Physiology
Anubi are very simply anthropomorphic jackals. Their torsos have human structure and musculature, while their heads, tails, and legs are of more canid construction. Their heads have a full muzzle and large mobile ears which may seem slightly out of proportion for those used to foxes, dogs, and wolves. Their builds, by human standards are generally tall and thin, or tall and athletic, with the females averaging 5'10", and the males averaging 6'2". Most have dark grey or black fur, while about 1 in 4 have the golden-brown fur pattern of their animal counterparts.
Their tails are long, hanging down to within 6" of the ground. Their legs are digitigrade in stance, with large paws. Their claws are fairly small, as anthro species go, blunt black claws that are generally under 1cm in length. They do not sweat very much, instead relying on their mouths to dissipate heat, though they are extremely resilient to temperature fluctuations, and can be comfortable anywhere from 10 to 45 C.
Anubi sight averages 16/20 by human metrics, and is dichromatic, with fair low-light vision. Their sense of smell is excellent, and hearing is well above human average. Genitalia resembles their canid counterpart, and females have two breasts, though about 1 in 10 end up with a second pair of equal or lesser size, and about 1 in 1000 end up with more than that. Single births are the norm, with twins occurring at 1 in 80 births, similar to human intervals. Gestation lasts 7 months, and the pups are born underdeveloped by human standards.
