Centaurs (cervine) - "Gladerunners"
Realm: Hellas
Typical Height Ranges: Males - 5' to 6' /// Females - 4'8" to 5'6"
Typical Weight Ranges: Males - 200 to 250 lbs /// Females - 175 to 225 lbs
Center of population: Greek mainland
Estimated population: 40,000 native / 170,000 former human
This version of the centaur is much less common, and much smaller than their equine cousins. The males have small compact antlers, which the females lack. Both sexes are described as agile and lithe.
Their upper bodies are almost entirely human in appearance, save for the addition of cervine ears and antlers. Their lower bodies are the quadrupedal body and legs of a roe deer. They stand approximately as tall as humans, though weigh more. Their bodies tend to be visually slim, very few ever end up even modestly obese.
Gladerunner faces are almost entirely human, though their hair has a habit of being the same colour as their fur, and naturally streaked. Their noses and mouths can sometimes be slightly cervine, but are generally visually human. Their tongue is generally longer than human normal, and molars of a slightly different configuration, oweing to a diet that excludes meat, but includes many types of leafy greens, tubers, and nuts that humans would not normally eat. Their digestive tract is extremely resilient to plant toxins.
Gladerunner senses are very close to human, with modest upgrades to night vision and hearing. Curiously, while olfaction is not significantly improved, it has demonstratably greater impact on their emotional state and subconscious than in humans, even in scents that are below the threshold of perception. Gestation averages 10 months, and almost always yields single births. As with any cervine, their antlers are lost and grow back every year.
The gladerunner body is energetic and swift. They're able to run long distances at 20-40 kph, and are surprisingly good swimmers as well. Their memory for images, word sequences, and numbers is markedly superior to human average, even if their processing and association are not. Also of note, they require 4 hours of sleep per night for optimal function.
-Many natural predators, traps, and curses seem to leave them alone inrealm for no discernable reason, as if they are warded from certain types of harm.
They follow the same life cycle as their equine cousins, though they're strict herbivores. An incidental point, strobing lights in the dark can prove immensely distracting to them, in varying ways.

Natural Magics
-When inrealm, they seem to have a natural compass and great sense for the distances they've moved, enhancing navigation.-Many natural predators, traps, and curses seem to leave them alone inrealm for no discernable reason, as if they are warded from certain types of harm.
Culture
Natural gladerunners can be somewhat difficult to interact with, since they're seemingly always on their way somewhere, and they have a habit of not aligning themselves to anyone else's causes, if they can help it. This can make them seem distanced and overly neutral at times. They don't have much centralized culture per se, since they tend to spread out and take employment nearly everywhere in Hellas, or even in the other realms. Native G-Rs seem to place value on the capacity to remain neutral to all parties and thus remain out of the line of fire of the conflicts of other species. They follow the same life cycle as their equine cousins, though they're strict herbivores. An incidental point, strobing lights in the dark can prove immensely distracting to them, in varying ways.
